Assigning Fabrics to Products

Assigning fabrics to products lets you control where each fabric appears in the configurator.

Fabrics can be assigned to products so they appear as available options in the configurator.

By default, a fabric is usually available for all products. You can also limit it to specific products when needed.

This is useful when a fabric should only be available for certain garments, product types, or collections.

How Fabric Assignment Works

Each fabric has a product rule.

You can choose between:

Rule

Description

All Products

The fabric is available for every product

Include Specific Products

The fabric is available only for selected products

Exclude Specific Products

The fabric is available for all products except selected products

These rules help you control which fabrics customers can select for each product.

1. Open the Fabric

Go to the Fabrics section in your admin area.

Select the fabric you want to assign to a product.

2. Open the Products Section

Inside the fabric detail page, open the Products section.

This is where you can manage which products can use the selected fabric.

By default, a fabric may be assigned to All Products.

This means the fabric can appear on every product in the configurator.

3. Choose the Product Rule

Select the rule you want to use.

Include Specific Products

Use this option when the fabric should only appear on selected products.

For example, if you select two products, only those two products will be able to use the fabric in the configurator.

Exclude Specific Products

Use this option when the fabric should appear on most products but not on selected ones.

For example, if you exclude one product, all other products can still use the fabric, but that product will not show it.

4. Select the Products

Click the product selector and choose the products you want to include or exclude.

Once selected, the products will appear in the list.

You can add one product or multiple products.

5. Test the Fabric in the Configurator

After assigning the fabric, open one of the products where the fabric should be available.

Go to the Fabric section in the configurator and check that the fabric appears in the list.

Then open another product that should not have access to the fabric and confirm that the fabric is not displayed there.

Example

If you set the rule to Include Specific Products and select:

  • Men T-Shirt

  • Men Polo

Then only those two products will show the fabric in the configurator.

Other products will not display that fabric.

Best Practices

When assigning fabrics:

  • Use All Products only when the fabric works for every product

  • Use Include Specific Products for product-specific fabrics

  • Use Exclude Specific Products when the fabric works for most products but not all

  • Test the fabric in the configurator after assigning it

  • Keep fabric assignments clean so customers only see relevant options

Summary

You can make a fabric available for all products, only selected products, or all products except selected ones.

This helps keep the configurator organized and ensures customers only choose fabrics that are suitable for the product they are customizing.
