Print Zones for Products

Print zones allow you to define where graphics or text can be placed on a product. Once a print zone is assigned to a product, it becomes available for every design used on that product.

This means you do not need to assign the same print zone separately for each design.

Print zones are useful for areas such as:

  • Chest logos

  • Sponsor logos

  • Player names

  • Player numbers

  • Sleeve graphics

  • Back prints

  • Custom text areas

How Print Zones Work

A print zone defines a specific area on the 3D product where a customer can place a graphic or text.

Each print zone can have its own:

  • Name

  • Type

  • View side

  • Width and height

  • Default graphic or default text

  • Scale

  • Position lock

  • Scale lock

  • Rotation lock

  • Price

You can create different print zones for different parts of the product, such as the front chest, back, sleeve, or any other printable area.

1. Open the Products Page

Go to the Products page from your admin area.

Select the product where you want to add a print zone.

2. Open the Print Zones Section

Inside the product setup page, open the Print Zones section.

This is where you can view, add, and manage the print zones assigned to the selected product.

3. Click Add Print Zone

Click Add Print Zone.

A dialog will open with the 3D product preview on the left and the print zone settings form on the right.

4. Click on the 3D Model to Set the Position

Click directly on the 3D product to choose where the print zone should be placed.

For example, you can click on the chest area to create a chest logo print zone.

You can fully interact with the 3D model while placing the zone:

  • Orbit the model

  • Drag the view

  • Zoom in or out

  • Click again to reposition the zone

This helps you place the print zone precisely where it should appear on the product.

5. Fill in the Print Zone Details

After choosing the position, fill in the print zone form.

Name

Enter a clear name for the print zone.

Example names:

  • Chest Logo

  • Front Sponsor

  • Player Name

  • Back Number

  • Sleeve Logo

The name should help you and your users understand what the zone is used for.

Type

Choose the type of print zone.

Available types include:

Type

Use case

Graphic

For logos, badges, sponsor graphics, or uploaded artwork

Text

For names, numbers, initials, or custom text

Choose Graphic when the zone should receive an image or SVG.

Choose Text when the zone should receive editable text.

View Side

Select the side of the product where the print zone belongs.

For example:

  • Front

  • Back

This helps the system display the zone on the correct view of the product.

6. Set the Print Zone Size

Define the rectangle size of the print zone using:

  • Width

  • Height

These values define the available area for the graphic or text.

For example, a chest logo could use a smaller area, while a back name or number could use a larger one.

The print zone size acts as the limit for what can be placed inside that area.

7. Configure a Graphic Print Zone

If the print zone type is Graphic, you can upload a default graphic.

This is useful if the product should already include a default logo, badge, or sponsor graphic.

You can also adjust the scale of the graphic.

The scale controls how large the graphic appears inside the print zone. When the scale changes, the width and height update automatically.

Example graphic print zones:

  • Chest logo

  • Club badge

  • Sponsor logo

  • Sleeve logo

8. Configure a Text Print Zone

If the print zone type is Text, you can configure the default text settings.

You can set:

  • Default text

  • Default font

  • Default text size

  • Default color

  • Outline color

  • Outline width

  • Letter spacing

For example, for a player name zone, you can set the default text to Player Name.

You can also select the font and size that should be used by default.

Example text print zones:

  • Player Name

  • Player Number

  • Team Name

  • Initials

9. Lock Print Zone Controls

You can decide how much freedom users have when editing the print zone.

Available lock options include:

Lock option

Description

Lock position

Prevents users from moving the print zone away from its assigned position

Lock scale

Prevents users from resizing the graphic or text

Lock rotation

Prevents users from rotating the graphic or text

For example, if you want a chest logo to always stay in the correct position, enable Lock position.

If you want the logo size to stay fixed, enable Lock scale.

These controls help keep the final product consistent and production-ready.

10. Add an Extra Price if Needed

You can add a price to the print zone.

This price is applied when the zone is used.

For example, you can add an extra charge for:

  • A printed chest logo

  • A sponsor logo

  • A player name

  • A back number

If there is no extra charge, you can leave the price as 0.

11. Create the Print Zone

Once all settings are configured, click Create Print Zone.

The print zone will be saved and assigned to the product.

It will now be available for every design used on that product.

Best Practices

When creating print zones:

  • Use clear names such as Chest Logo, Player Name, or Back Number

  • Place the zone carefully on the 3D model

  • Use the correct type: Graphic or Text

  • Set a realistic width and height for the printable area

  • Lock the position when the zone should not be moved by users

  • Lock the scale if the size must remain fixed

  • Add a default graphic or text when needed

  • Use the price field if the print zone adds extra production cost

Summary

Print zones make it easier to manage graphics and text areas on a product.

Instead of assigning print areas separately for each design, you define them once at the product level.

After that, every design available on the product can use the same print zones, making the setup faster, cleaner, and easier to manage.
